MAT MAY 2017

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national-level management entrance examination. The test scores are used for admission to various MBA, PGDM, and allied management programs. The exam is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA). More than 600 B-Schools accept MAT exam scores.

MAT is held four times in a year: February, May, September and December.  Exam dates and other schedules are generally announced three months before the exam.

MAT February 2017 Paper Based Test was held on February 5, 2017, and the Computer Based Test was conducted on February 11, 2017. The result was declared on Feb 24, 2017.

Schedule for MAT 2017 May exam has also been announced. The last date to register online for May exam is April 28, 2017.

The window to select five management institute where AIMA will send your MAT scores will open at a later stage. The candidates can fill in their choices with the help of their registration number and DOB.

MAT is an objective type test with multiple-choice questions. Candidates can choose to take the exam in either of the two modes – paper-based or computer-based.

Eligibility

Here are the eligibility criteria for the MAT Feb 2017 exam:

  • Graduates in any discipline can take the exam.
  • Final year graduation students can also apply.
  • There’s no age limit for MAT exam.

Process

MAT 2017 application fees are Rs 1400. Candidates can apply through any one of three following modes:

  • Online Payment

By registering online via Credit Card/Debit Card (ATM Card) payment. Detailed procedure is given on the MAT website link.

  • Demand Draft 

Obtain crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs 1400 in favor of ‘All India Management Association’ payable at Delhi from any bank. Then register online along with the DD details.

  • Cash

Obtain form with MAT Bulletin/CD against a cash payment of Rs 1400 from listed Nodal Centres of AIMA OR from AIMA, New Delhi.

Candidates who have opted for the computer-based test can choose the date and time slot of their choice, subject to availability. While filling up admission forms, candidates need to fill in details of five management institutes during registration. MAT scores will be sent directly to these institutes.

Date and time slot for the exam will be automatically allotted by the system to those candidates who do not select their slot up to four days before the computer-based test.

Admit Card

MAT May 2017 admit cards will be available for download from April 29, 2017. Candidates can download their respective cards from AIMA website by entering the name, DOB and application form number.

Specific admit cards will be generated for MAT aspirants who opted for the paper-based test and for the computer-based test. It contains the candidate’s name, forms no, roll no, test date, test time and test venue address. In the case of computer-based test, candidates have to strictly follow the date and time allotted.

Candidates can download it from the official website. Admit card will not be mailed to any candidate.

Pattern

MAT exam is held for almost two-and-a-half hours. The test covers two hundred (200) questions in 150 minutes. The aspirant is tested in the following five areas: Indian and Global Environment, Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning. There are 40 questions in each section. Each question carries one mark, whereas, one/fourth mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

Here are a few tips for MAT exam preparation:

  • Practice reading ‘Reading Comprehension’ passages for at least two to three months, about four to five per day.
  • Go through all the rules of grammar and make an effort to understand the contextual usage of words and phrases in English.
  • For Quant, practice about 20-25 questions every day. Lay particular emphasis on Arithmetic and Algebra based questions – these are quite common in MAT exam pattern.
  • Make an effort to improve on GK, by reading a newspaper every day and a good weekly or monthly magazine. That should help you get a good score in MAT.
